Agronomic traits, after-postharvest treatments and in vitro fermentation of Moringa accessions
This data is used for statistical analyses in a thesis titled 'Influence of accessions, metabolite ion features, storage and processing conditions on efficacy of Moringa plant extracts to inhibit enteric methane emission'.
The data have been organized into four different study chapters in the form of Excel workbooks and spreadsheets. Chapter 2 data contain the processed summary of agronomic traits collected in the field at five months of transplanting, in vitro fermentation characteristics (total gas, methane, in vitro organic matter digestibility and different ratios) of E. curvula hay incubated with extracts of these accessions, total phenolics and total flavonoids obtained in the studied 12 Moringa accessions. Chapter 3 processed summary data including in vitro total gas, methane, in vitro organic matter digestibility and different ratios recorded from E. curvula hay incubated with extracts of 12 samples of the selected accessions (A1, A2, A3 and A11) for metabolomics study for 48 hours. This chapter also contains metabolite ion feature intensity data obtained in the negative and positive ion mode detector of Ultra–performance liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry.
Chapter 4 is the in vitro fermentation characteristics (total gas, methane, in vitro organic matter digestibility, volatile fatty acids i.e. total, propionic, acetate, butyrate, other VFAs and different ratios of the fermentation parameters) obtained from E. curvula hay incubated with binary cocktails of Moringa oleifera accessions extracts (A3 and A11) mixed in various proportions. Furthermore, chapter 5 data contain the in vitro fermentation characteristics (total gas, methane, in vitro organic matter digestibility, and different ratios of these fermentation parameters) of E. curvula hay incubated with extracts after treating the Moringa leaves or powder under different postharvest processing (i.e. different drying method, temperature and extraction solvent) and storage conditions (i.e different temperatures and storage light). This chapter also has the data of total flavonoids and total phenolics contents recorded from the Moringa extracts after postharvest treatments.
