The data are from the Algebraic word problem-solving achievement test, which tested the learners' problem-solving skills with Polya’s (1945) four-step problem-solving model. This is the most well-known mathematical problem-solving model, which is understanding the problem, devising a plan, carrying out the plan, and rechecking (Looking back). The data were analysed using the modified rubric from Charles (1987) and Sumaryanta (2015) based on Polya’s framework.
The attached file also consists of the data on the problem-solving strategies used by the learners from Krulik and Rudnick (1996) when solving algebraic word problems. Interview data is included in the sheet. Pseudonyms were used on the interview transcribed data.
