Analysis of communal wool farmer's production practices in relation to responsible wool standards
This dataset consists of communal wool farmer's production practices to score them against responsible wool standards. The data was collected in the Eastern Cape province of South Africa and a total of 50 communal wool farmers were randomly selected. A questionnaire was developed and interviews were administered through semi-structured interviews. The questionnaire collected information on demographics (age, gender, level of education, income etc.) and on the communal wool farmers’ production practices (land holdings, shearing practices, grazing, herding, etc.). The data was analysed using descriptive analysis in the form of mean, frequency, percentages, tables and figures and a rubric method was developed to assess the production practises of communal farmers in relation to the Responsible Wool Standard (RWS).
