<p dir="ltr">The researcher obtained ethical approval from the Faculty of Health Science Research Ethics Committee at the University of Pretoria. After receiving approval, the researcher applied to the North West Department of Health Research Committee which sent the application to the Dr Kenneth Kaunda Research Committee. She then had to present a research protocol and permission was granted. The research committee advised that the researcher should consult with Department of Education representatives, namely, either the school principals or the school governing body. The researcher reached out to the school principals and permission was granted to carry out the interview. This study employed qualitative descriptive design. Semi-structured face-to-face interviews were used to collect data from parents of preadolescent girls in grade 4-5 in Dr Kenneth Kaunda District, North West Province, South Africa. The parents were selected using convenience (volunteer) sampling, and the sample size was guided by data saturation. A Nvivo software was used to manage the data and content analysis was used to analyse the data collected. he interviews were conducted in English and Setswana languages. The interview process ranged from 30 minutes to 80 minutes for each participant. </p>
