Geochemistry and geochronology data for thin granitoid sheets in, and geological map of H.U. Sverdrupfjella, Western Dronning Maud Land, Antarctica
Data and geological map of H.U. Sverdrupfjella; including geochemistry, geochronology and sheet orientations of the granitoids studied as used in the PhD thesis of Burger (2023).
The geological map is high resolution and after Elvevold and Ohta (2010). The orientation data was measured as dip and azimuth (i.e. the bearing to the downward dip) using a geological compass in the field. Geochemical data is a combination of XRF and ICP-MS, based on the best reference material results (included) or availability. XRF analysis used fused beads for major elements and pressed pellets for trace elements, ICP-MS used a 4 acid digestion method. Geochronology are U-Pb system data on separated zircon grains analysed by SHRIMP for 5 samples of granitoid. The data file includes mean ages as well as data tables for all 5 samples. Please see Burger (2023) for more detailed methodology.
