Introducing educational technology in a public nursing college in Gauteng Province
Phase 1, data is related to a survey that was conducted with nurse educators to assess the use of technology in a public nursing college in Gauteng Province, South Africa. Quantitative data analysis was done using the SPSS, 26. The reflection was conducted with nurse educators to analyse and discuss the results of the survey. Phase 2, consisted of a nominal group technique conducted with nurse educators to plan for the use of technology in a public nursing college. From the different educational technologies discussed, nurse educators voted for a podcast. An expert trainer was employed to train nurse educators on podcast/podcasting. Nurse educators developed a podcast training module. Phase 3, entailed a survey conducted with student nurses to evaluate their satisfaction with the podcast training module that was developed by nurse educators. Quantitative data analysis was also done using the SPSS, 26. The reflection was conducted with nurse educators to further analyse and have a dialogue on the results of the survey conducted with the students. Both the student nurses and educators were satisfied with the educational technology (podcast).
