<p>A qualitative and descriptive approach was used to explore and describe the knowledge of midwives regarding early warning signs of primary postpartum haemorrhage in a selected hospital. </p>
<p>The data was summarized using the following themes: </p>
<p>1. Midwives’ understanding of PPH and its causes, midwives’ knowledge regarding observation for and diagnosing of PPH 2. Midwives’ knowledge regarding ward policies related to PPH. Sub-themes for each were identified and discussed. Seven steps of Colaizzi was used to analyse the data.</p>
