This dataset contains interview transcripts collected from midwives working in a public tertiary hospital in Gauteng, South Africa. The data was gathered as part of a qualitative study exploring the challenges faced by midwives when caring for mechanically ventilated women in the labour ward. The dataset includes demographic information of the respondents, detailed accounts of their experiences, and the challenges they encounter, such as competency issues, medical-legal concerns, and inter-professional dynamics. The data was collected between January and June 2023 and is anonymized to protect the identities of the participants.
