The dataset consists of 10 transcribed semi-structured interviews conducted with platform-based motorbike delivery riders in Gauteng during July and August 2025. The interviews followed Seidman’s three-interview series technique, although only two interviews were conducted with each participant. The first interview focused on the rider’s background and work experiences up to the date of the interview, while the second explored their current experiences as platform-based delivery riders. The 10 participants were employed by five different platform companies, which remain anonymous. Ethical approval for the study was obtained from the University's ethics committee. Each rider was approached in the parking lot outside the store they deliver for. They were informed about the purpose of the study and provided written consent to participate.
