Seven gay men regarding their experiences of relationship stigma in the gay community
This dataset contains qualitative verbatim interview transcripts of seven gay men in South Africa. The participants were voluntarily recruited from various locations across South Africa. Data were collected through individual and unstructured virtual interviews. No interview schedule was utilised, though a grounding question was asked ("Can you tell me about an instance where a gay man behaved negatively towards you because of your relationship arrangement?"). The unstructured interview format was aimed at generating participants' experiences of stigma towards their consensually non-monogamous relationship arrangement that occurred within the gay community. Six of the seven participants were identified as White and one as Coloured, while sixcharacterised their relationships as 'Open' and one as 'Polyamorous.' Mage = 30. Note that all names used in the data are pseudonyms.
