The use of climate change data, habitat information, life history traits, and genetic diversity to investigate the current observed population trends of South African lark species

Analysis of effects of weather on reporting rate of South African larks: Sheet Pentad information entails the species name, number of cards, entad, year, reporting rate, average maximum temperature, average minimum temperature, and rainfall. The locality temperature & rainfall sheet contains locality weather data. Seasonal rain data contain seasonal rain data per biome. Threshold temperatures contain collected threshold temperatures per biome and per year. Ground cover types associated with the presence of larks in three South African biomes: Quadrat data per locality and per biome. Analysis of the association of the life history traits of larks and the currently observed population trends: The life history traits data were collected from the Handbook of the Birds of the World. The phylogenetic signal of the life history traits of larks: The life history traits data were collected from the Handbook of the Birds of the World. The genetic diversity of South African larks inferred using the CYTB gene region: The CYTB consensus sequences of each lark were generated in this study. An asterisk denotes samples collected from the museum that are possible mislabels. The genetic diversity of South African larks inferred using the ND2 gene region: The ND2 consensus sequences of each lark generated in this study. An asterisk denotes samples collected from the museum that are possible mislabels. CYTB and ND2 Sample information: The details of the samples used in this study, including the marker name (Cytb and ND2), year of collection, locality of collection, and biome.
