This research study analysed the root cause of youth involvement in crime in Diepkloof in order to seek pastoral ways of preventing the youth from criminal activities and providing pastoral care to them. This research also aims to pastorally work with parents, elderly people, and the community to support and motivate the youth in order to prevent them from criminal activities. This research study adopted the qualitative research methodology and used both interviewee- and interviewer-directed questions in order to retrieve data from the participants. The data was retrieved from three categories: youth, clergy, and community members. Nick Pollard's method of pastoral care, positive deconstruction, was adopted as the caring theory in order to provide pastoral care to the youth in crime and to positively deconstruct their lives out of crime. This enabled the researcher to comprehend the experiences of the youth in crime and to provide ways to provide pastoral care to the youth in crime.
