Dataset for a journal contribution exploring the opinions and experiences of medical doctors and academic educationalists from four settings on the inclusion of management, health economics, and research in the medical curriculum in South Africa and Botswana.

Interviews with medical doctors and academic educationalists were conducted. The attached files are transcripts of semi-structured interviews that were conducted with academic educationalists and medical doctors from the 4 study sites. In total, 49 interviews were conducted. Four interviews from each site (16 in total) have been uploaded.

Data analysis was supported by ATLAS.ti version 9.1.7.0 software. Iterative rounds of coding by the principal investigator were followed by discussions with co-researchers. Categories and sub-themes were refined and defined several times before the final themes were generated and named.
