The behaviour and egg production of laying hens

Data was collected at Leslie farm in Mpumalanga which falls under Rossgro Poultry Eggs. This farm has two types of housing systems: namely, floor system (FS) and conventional cages (CC). The enriched cages (EC), which consisted of modified CC were developed according to the requirements for the study. The data was obtained on the hens housed in these 3 housing systems through the utilisation of video recording and eye observations conducted by trained staff members. These observations were focused on the behaviours of hens, as well as various production parameters including body weight, egg production, and body condition scoring.
